During a July 4th party, Alexis Bellino, star of The Real Housewives of Orange County, and her husband experienced quite a scare when their 2-year old daughters accidentally fell into a pool. The girls were seated in a stroller without the brake on and accidentally rolled into the pool. TMZ reports that Alexis Bellino and her husband were away from the children when the incident took place and a lifeguard had to rescue the children, but Alexis is telling a different story. Keep reading for more details on the scary situation…

Alexis Bellino and her husband, Jim, were celebrating with friends on July 4th at the Balboa Bay Club in Newport, California when their 2-year old daughters ended up in the pool. TMZ reports that The Real Housewives of Orange County star and her husband left the stroller unattended without the brake on and it rolled into a pool. They also claim that several security officers who witnessed the incident said one child was strapped into the stroller and had to be rescued by a lifeguard, while the other girl was pulled out of the water by Jim.

Alexis Bellino felt that the truth had been skewed so she cleared up the incident on her personal blog. “I am choosing to comment on the July 4th story that is being told because it is inaccurate and has been spun out of control by the media,” she writes. “The only way for the truth to be told is for me to tell it myself.”

“On Sunday, July 4th, my family was leaving the Balboa Bay Club swimming pool in the late afternoon. As we were leaving, I turned to say goodbye. Our girls were in their stroller and I thought I had put the brake on, but apparently I didn’t,” Alexis Bellino blogs. “My husband, Jim, and I were both standing close to the stroller. Within seconds, the stroller had rolled towards the pool and a stroller wheel rolled off the edge of the pool. Before either of us could grab the stroller, a second wheel rolled off the edge, and the stroller went into the pool. Of course, Jim instantly went into the pool. He grabbed of the girls himself and lifted both of them out of the water. Because the girls were not strapped into the stroller, and Jim was right there, their heads did not even go under water.”

The situation was still quite a scare for Alexis Bellino and her husband, but they feel it taught them a valuable lesson. “While we are not making light of this incident, and have been reminded to never take our eyes off the children for even a second when near water, it has been so hurtful to know how this experience has been mischaracterized in the media,” she writes. “To all of you who have offered your support, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
