Last night on Hell’s Kitchen on FOX, both Ed Battaglia and Jason Ellis became the latest victims of Gordon Ramsay‘s chopping block as they were eliminated from the competition. The guys sat down for a chat with us this morning about their experience on the show. Keep reading to find out if they were as surprised as most of us that they were eliminated!
RTVM: Were you both surprised to be eliminated before making the final four on Hell’s Kitchen?
Ed Battaglia: My goal was to make the final six, so I was not too upset. I am proud of my accomplishments.
Jason Ellis: Yes, I was surprised and not expecting to be sent home. My first goal was to make the final six, and my next goal was to make the final two.
RTVM: So, Jason you did not think that you deserved to go home?
Jason Ellis: No. It’s funny because those of you watching the show saw how frazzled Ben was and how cocky he was. Jay even admitted it, if I had kept my mouth shut I would still be there. I don’t believe in biting my tongue for anyone though. I still believe I am the “Jennifer Hudson” of Hell’s Kitchen though as I know bigger and better things are going to come my way.
RTVM: I think most of the viewers thought Autumn would be sent home. Do you think Autumn should have gone home instead of either of you?
Jason Ellis: Hell yeah, Autumn should have gone home in the first few weeks.
RTVM: Ed, why did you get so flustered last night at the fish station?
Ed Battaglia: I won’t lie, the fish station is tough to begin with but we were hammered with orders for fish. In all the years of watching Hell’s Kitchen, I have never seen that many fish orders come in at once. Halibut is also a hard fish to cook because it is very dense.
Jason Ellis: I can back Ed up on that, it is not realistic that they ask us to have it ready in four to five minutes, it takes longer than that to cook.
RTVM: Why do you think they don’t give more time on the fish then?
Jason Ellis: [laughing] Hey Ed, maybe if we had some flings on the show we would still be there. I should have taped Autumn’s mouth shut and hooked up with her….kidding of course.
RTVM: Jason, do you think the other contestants were intimidated by you?
Jason Ellis: Absolutely without a doubt. But my issue is what does that have to do with cooking? I would have loved to get with Jay, Ed, Benjamin and the guys and just cooked with no drama, but I don’t sugarcoat anything or bite my tongue, I tell it like it is.
RTVM: What is something that we the viewers don’t see going on behind the scenes?
Ed Battaglia: The friendships. You meet a lot of great people and get really close to some of them. Jay, Jason, Salvatore and I are all good friends and talk all the time on the phone. It’s a lot of fun.
RTVM: What’s next for you both?
Jason Ellis: I have been approached for cookbooks and some national tours. I am not sure what I am going for right now, I don’t want to miss out on the right opportunities. It’s funny though because since the show I am getting invited to just about everything.
Ed Battaglia: I will continue teaching my great students. I would love to have my own cooking show one day, but right now I am happy where I am.
Many thanks and best of luck to both Ed and Jason! Be sure to tune in next Tuesday at 8 pm EST for an all new drama filled episode of Hell’s Kitchen on FOX as it looks like the romance gets serious and so does Chef Ramsay! Remember, next week we go back to one hour as it is also the premiere of Gordon Ramsay‘s new show MasterChef at 9 pm EST! Be sure to catch them both!
