The competition is heating up on the new season of Project Runway. After last week’s Marie Claire billboard challenge, two designers were eliminated. This week, the contestants have to use rather unconventional materials to design a garment judged by celebrity designer, Betsey Johnson. Keep reading for more details on Betsey Johnson’s stint as a guest judge and where the designers have to buy their design materials…
It wouldn’t be Project Runway if the competing designers weren’t thrown a few curve balls every now and again. In seasons past, designers have had to create runway ready outfits out of items from a grocery store, automobile parts, and Hershey’s candy wrappers. On this week’s episode, the 14 remaining designers are heading to a party supply store to buy materials for an original garment. Not surprisingly, the challenge proves to be frustrating and challenging to most of the designers. One competitor even lands in the hospital on Thursday night’s episode!
Since the outfits are certainly going to be unique and eccentric, it makes sense that Project Runway is welcoming a guest judge known for her outlandish, fun, and colorful style. Fashion designer, Betsey Johnson, will be joining Heidi Klum, Michael Kors, and Nina Garcia to judge the runway looks made from party supplies.
Heidi Klum was thrilled to welcome the iconic designer to the judging panel this season. “We had Betsey Johnson…and that was great,” Heidi Klum said. “The designers always get really excited with they see a big designer judging.”
Tune into Project Runway on Lifetime on Thursday at 9pm EST to see all the innovative designs!
