The Real Housewives Of New Jersey: Teresa Giudice Exclusive Interview

August 09, 2010 08:53 AM by Jennifer

When you mention the name Teresa Giudice, the first thing that comes to mind is the table flipping incident last season on The Real Housewives of New Jersey on Bravo, or the recent stories about her financial troubles. We sat down with the Real Housewives of New Jersey star to find out a little more about the real woman behind the headlines.

RTVM:  How did you go about being cast for the show The Real Housewives of New Jersey on Bravo?

Teresa Giudice:  I was cast through the salon Chateau in Franklin Lakes, N.J.

RTVM: Do you ever watch any episodes of the show?

Teresa Giudice:  Before being on the show, no. After being cast on the show, yes.

RTVM: Do you watch any of the other seasons of The Real Housewives, such as The Real Housewives of New York City or The Real Housewives of Orange County?

Teresa Giudice: Yes, now I watch them all.

RTVM: Is there any particular character you like the best?

Teresa Giudice: You know what, I met them all and I think they are all amazing. They are all special in their own way.

RTVM: You have a book out, called Skinny Italian. What inspired you to write it?

Teresa Giudice: What inspired me to write it is that I think from watching the first six episodes that we were on, I felt like everybody didn’t get to know the real me. They just thought that I was like this shopaholic, which I’m not. I mean, yes, of course, I love to shop, but there’s more to me than just that. I cook for my family every night. I’m 100% Italian, first generation here, my parents are off the boat. I’m with my kids all the time, hands on, I don’t have any help. I just love being with my kids. i love cooking for them everyday, and I just wanted to get that out there. I think my mom is an amazing cook, and I learned from her, and I wanted to get all of our family recipes out there.

RTVM: That was my next question. Taking care of your four beautiful daughters and your husband, and cooking and cleaning, how do you do everything without any help?

Teresa Giudice: I just do it, I mean I do have a cleaning lady every other week, that’s the only thing, to come in and do the big heavy duty cleaning. But otherwise I do everything else.

RTVM: I have to ask at least one question about the D word, Danielle Staub. When you went to the Posche Fashion show, did you ever think that just being nice and saying hi to her was going to escalate into this huge fiasco on The Real Housewives of New Jersey on Bravo?

Teresa Giudice: Did I ever think that was going to happen? No. I think from everyone watching me almost 2 full seasons they know me now and know that I was sincerely trying to be nice at first. After she said, “Don’t call me honey”, that’s when the whole “Pay attention” thing happened all over for me and that’s what set me off. I was trying to be sincere and nice in the beginning and she could have just been nice back she didn’t have to say “Don’t call me honey”.

RTVM: Any plans for a second book?

Teresa Giudice: Yes, I am working on a second book.

RTVM: You have a website, tgfabulicious.com. Anything else big in the works?

Teresa Giudice: Yes! I am coming out with a makeup line, called Fabulicious! I am also on Facebook and on Twitter.
