Millionaire Matchmaker: Patti Stanger Calls Off Engagement

August 16, 2010 10:00 AM by Nancy Floyd

It looks like it’s not a love match for the Millionaire Matchmaker! Patti Stanger, star of the Bravo reality show, has called off her engagement to longtime beau, Andy Friedman. Keep reading for more details on their failed romance and why Patti called the wedding off…

She may get paid to find love for other people, but Patti Stanger (aka The Millionaire Matchmaker) hasn’t had as much luck finding it on her own. The 49-year old reality TV star announced yesterday, via Twitter, that she’s ended her engagement to longtime boyfriend, Andy Friedman. The couple has been together for six years and were engaged last year on Patti Stanger’s birthday. Andy popped the question with a 4-carat heart-shaped diamond ring and the couple have been planning their wedding (as seen on the Bravo reality show). Unfortunately, there was one major thing the couple couldn’t agree on.

“I just ended my relationship with Andy,” Patti Stanger tweeted on Sunday. “It hit me really hard that I want kids in my life. You have to agree on the non-negotiables.” Patti explained the reasons behind the breakup in more detail to Us Weekly. ”He wanted [kids], but time got away from us, and I was working on the show for three years and we never had time to have a baby so it was that kind of thing,” she said. “I think what happened is that he is not a fan of this industry and I love it. He really didn’t like my work as much as I did.”

The Millionaire Matchmaker star is grateful to her fans, friends, and family for their unwavering support during this difficult time. No doubt the decision to end the relationship didn’t come easy for Patti Stanger, but she took to Twitter to express her gratitude to everyone who has stood by her.  ”Thank you so much for all the supportive messages, emails and Facebook comments,” she wrote. “It means a lot.”

Although she and Andy Friedman are no longer a couple, Patti Stanger is confident that their friendship will remain intact. “We are best friends who want different things,” she tells Us Weekly. ”I didn’t get dumped. I think we both know that there is somebody else out there for us. We had dinner last night. We are always going to be best friends. We were best friends from the start.”
