A lot of rumors have been buzzing about American Idol‘s new judging panel lately, but we hear the one about Steven Tyler joining the show is now a fact. According to Tyler’s Aerosmith band mate, Tom Hamilton, the rocker is definitely joining American Idol for season 10. Keep reading for more details on Steven Tyler’s newest gig…
American Idol has been making a lot of changes lately and, although producers are staying quiet about who will be joining the judging panel, it’s been reportedly confirmed that Aerosmith lead singer, Steven Tyler, has signed a contract to become a judge. Tyler’s friend and Aerosmith bass player, Tom Hamilton, confirms the news that Steven Tyler will serve as an American Idol judge in the upcoming tenth season.
“Steven is doing American Idol. The ink is dry on that,” Tom Hamilton told The Star-Ledger this week. ”So, we’ll have to work around his schedule for a new record.”
Although Tom Hamilton is excited for his friend’s opportunity, he is a bit nervous about how Steven Tyler’s appearance on American Idol might hurt the band’s recent comeback. ”I hope it doesn’t hurt the new momentum we’ve built up on this tour, because that’s been so important for us as a band,” Tom Hamilton says. “But I wouldn’t want to be the one standing in the way of this for him. Steven is someone who absolutely lives to be in front of an audience, and the people closest to him know how witty and entertaining he can be. I don’t know if `American Idol’ will be rock ‘n’ roll enough for him, but it is an opportunity for millions of people to see another side of Steven Tyler.”
