It’s not the worst job in the world (not even close), but being the host and judge for Top Chef: Just Desserts has one real challenge: You have to eat a lot of desserts. How did host Gail Simmons keep from blowing up into a balloon? Read on to find out.
Gail Simmons is a judge on Top Chef, and now she’s the host and a judge on the new spinoff, Top Chef: Just Desserts. Eating dozens of desserts can be tough on the body, however. How did she deal with it?
“I certainly exercised moreâ€”I bumped up my exercise routine before I started the show and really made sure I worked out as hard and as much as I could, just to keep my body as healthy as possible,” she told E Online.
Gail also pointed out that she’s been eating “professionally” for a decade now, so she knows how to handle this occupational hazard. This, however, was a new challenge because it was JUST desserts.
“The calories I was ingesting in large quantities [on the shows] were empty for the most part,” she said. “I wasn’t eating proteins and greensâ€”I was eating butter and sugar.”
Gail said exercise is really important. She would go on runs whenever she had free time during taping. She also says she tries to be more aware of what she’s eating when she’s on hiatus from filming.
