The Biggest Loser: First Workouts, Weigh In And Elimination

September 28, 2010 08:04 PM by Lisa Princ

The Biggest Loser on NBC is back tonight and Bob Harper along with Jillian Michaels waste no time in getting the contestants into the gym and a fitness routine! Tonight they’ll weigh in for the first time and someone will be heading home. Keep reading for all the details!

As they arrived at the The Biggest Loser ranch tonight, the season ten contestants were about to get more surprises than they bargained for! For starters, what we thought was 14 contestants turned into 16 as both Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels were given the chance to bring someone back out of the hopefuls last week. Bob chose to bring back Aaron, as he said he was saving not only Aaron, but his two young children. Jillian decided to bring back Elizabeth, the gal who ended up in the hospital last week during her endurance challenge.

Then the contestants were visited by the doctor for a health check and Lisa broke down after hearing that her internal age was actually 62 not 31 and then she was informed that despite the heaviness of past contestants, no one has ever had a double internal age. Allie was also in tears after hearing that she had more body fat than anyone else due to her weight loss surgery at 14 years of age, which still baffles me as to why any parent would do that. Lastly, Rick got a wake up call when he heard that his chances for heart disease were well over 30% versus the normal 4% for someone of his age.

Next up, they got to meet with Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels for their first workouts and it was not a pretty sight as we saw multiple contestants getting sick all over the gym and then Rick who passed out at one point and now had a lot more work to do to catch up to the others. One contestant in particular struck Bob – Brendan who actually asked Bob during a session if they were done yet. Brendan broke down and told Bob how he lost the love of his life because of his weight, but Bob was able to quickly turn his demeanor around and got him to push harder. Later that day they were all sitting around chatting with Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels about healthy food choices and discussing some of the things used to eat, so Bob and Jillian had some of their favorite sandwiches sent to them as a reminder of how large their meals used to be.

After only 2 weeks on the ranch, Ali Sweeny dropped in them during some relaxing time to let them know that they would be weighing in that evening. And as promised season ten would be different as Ali informed that the yellow line would be moved way up, leaving half the contestants safe and the other half unsafe and having to fight for their stay on the ranch. So after 2 weeks, this is how the losers fared:

from 468 lbs to 438 lbs for a total loss of 30 lbs (6.41%)

from 258 lbs to 240 lbs for a total loss of 18 lbs (6.98%)

from 402 lbs to 368 lbs for a total loss of 34 lbs (8.46%)

from 322 lbs to 305 lbs for a total loss of 17 lbs (5.28%)

from 362 lbs to 331 lbs for a total loss of 31 lbs (8.56%)

from 231 lbs to 219 lbs for a total loss of 12 lbs (5.19%)

from 244 lbs to 232 lbs for a total loss of 12 lbs (4.92%)

from 367 lbs to 340 lbs for a total loss of 27 lbs (7.36%)

from 369 lbs to 339 lbs for a total loss of 30 lbs (8.13%)

from 282 lbs to 268 lbs for a total loss of 14 lbs (4.96%)

from 288 lbs to 272 lbs for a total loss of 16 lbs (5.56%)

From 421 lbs to 380 for a total loss of 41 lbs (9.74%)

from 400 lbs to 378 for a total loss of 22 lbs (5.50%)

from 350 lbs to 314 lbs for a total loss of 36 lbs (10.29%)

from 272 lbs to 258 for a total loss of 14 lbs (5.15%)

from 263 to 247 for a total loss of 16 lbs (6.08%)

Surprisingly, after the weigh in, Patrick was the only man below the yellow line and Ada was the only woman above it. In another surprise twist, Ali informed the contestants that since Rick had the highest percentage of weight loss he would be able to save one person from elimination, while the remainder of them would have to battle it out in a challenge until there were only two left. Rick decided to go with Patrick, but not because he was a man but because he was inspiring and pushed Rick to do better.

So now it was a battle of the ladies who would have to face a challenge that included running and grabbing a flag, leaving the person who got it safe and the others would start over until there were only two left. Elizabeth, the contestant that Jillian Michaels brought back, who spent last week in the hospital was the first one to grab a flag. The remaining ladies fought it out, with Jessica and Burgandy getting catty with one another…I can smell a rivalry brewing here already. The last two standing were ironically the oldest contestant, Tina and the youngest contestant, Allie. Only the top eight would be voting for elimination, and after the votes, Allie was sent home as the majority thought that Tina, at her age needed to be there more. Sorry to see you go Allie, but since the show Allie has dropped about 60 lbs at home!
