Cheryl Burke is best know for her moves on the dance floor, but this month the professional dancer of ABC‘s Dancing With The Stars is taking a different stage as she will stand up to and speak out against domestic violence. Keep reading for all the details!
That’s right, this month in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Dancing With The Stars pro Cheryl Burke will take the stage to speak and encourage both men and women to stand up to domestic violence. So why is this cause so important to Cheryl Burke? Cheryl recently revealed “I was a victim many years ago, and now is the time to talk openly about it. This is a huge priority for me. I got out of my situation because I told a friend at a guest house. It makes such a huge difference to talk openly about it. It’s something serious that people need to do.”
Cheryl is hoping that her story will encourage others to speak out and tell a friend if they are in such a situation. With one in four women dealing with domestic violence, Cheryl has teamed up with Allstate for the “Tell a Gal Pal” campaign in which Allstate will donate $1 every time someone clicks the like button to the National Network to End Domestic Violence, up to $20,000. You can help Cheryl and get involved by going to Tell a Gal Pal on facebook and simply clicking the like button. Let’s help Cheryl Burke and Allstate reach their goal this month!
