Arrogant. Cocky. Overconfident. Strong. Those are a few words I’ve seen used to describe Jimmy Tarantino, a.k.a. “Jimmy T.” Already a huge personality just three episodes deep into Survivor: Nicaragua on CBS, Jimmy T. has a very unique story when it comes to how he was placed on the show. Yes he did apply, but he didn’t just impress producers to earn his spot on the cast, he also won over America.
A few months ago, Survivor mirrored American Idol when Sears held a special casting call where America had the opportunity to vote for their favorite contestant — and yes, Jimmy T. was the guy who nabbed the majority of the votes, which also landed him on the show. That makes Jimmy T. the first contestant in Survivor history to be voted in for placement on the show.
48-year-old Jimmy T. — a member of the Espada tribe — is a commercial fisherman from Gloucester, Massachusetts. He says the words “charismatic,” “genuine” and “proud” are the best three words to describe himself. When it comes to a previous contestant, Jimmy T. claims he is most comparable to Rupert Boneham of Survivor seasons 7, 8 and 20. Why? Because Jimmy T. says he’s “just as lovable.”
Does Jimmy T. have what it takes to outwit, outplay and outlast all the others for the $1 million grand prize? 17 contestants are left.
