While the Real Housewives of New York City were busy socializing, thieves were busy ripping the off the show’s crew in a heist.
The New York Post reports that while shooting a scene for the new season, Alex McCord, her husband Simon VanKempen, Sonja Morgan and Ramona Singer attended the Emperor’s Brand launch of Giorgio G Cognac at the Pierre Hotel in New York City. While the cast was enjoying a party, it was during this time that the production crew was robbed. At least $30,000 worth of equipment was stolen.Â
Sources tell the paper that the production van was parked right outside the Pierre Hotel in Manhattan. How the thieves were able to run away with so much equipment so close to the filming location is anybody’s guess right now. The thieves took at least two long lenses, tripods and several crew bags and wallets. The thieves gained entry to the van by simply breaking a lock while the swanky party was in full swing.
The new season of the Real Housewives of New York City has its own drama. Former housewife Bethenny Frankel is gone and there is an addition of new houswife Cindy Barshop, founder of the chain of day spas, Completely Bare.
A rep for Bravo says that a police report and insurance claims have been filed. There are no official suspects yet and there is no word yet on whether the show itself was being specifically targeted, or if it was a chance encounter by the thieves.
