Hair Battle Spectacular Is Highest Rated Freshman Show On Oxygen

In a press release by Oxygen, the network revealed: “Oxygen Media’s fantasy hair competition series ‘Hair Battle Spectacular’ rises to the top to become the most watched freshman series in network history among all key demos, according to Nielsen Media Research. Oxygen’s digital platforms were up for the night as well, continuing to engage viewers and make fans a part of the experience.”
The press release also detailed details behind how people watched the show. “‘Hair Battle Spectacular’ended its season on a high note with its finale on Tuesday, October 5, which named Minista the winner of the competition. The show delivered series highs among key female demos W18-34 (442,000) and W18-49 (602,000). On the digital front, the “Hair Battle Spectacular†show site on www.Oxygen.comwas up double digits vs. last week, +55% in daily uniques, +90% in page views and +19% in video streams. Oxygen’s real time water cooler, www.OxygenLive.com, increased in page views during the broadcast, +69% on the East Coast and +56% on the West Coast. In addition to the stellar success of “Hair Battle Spectacular,†Oxygen outperformed in the 9pm hour on Tuesday night with an all-new episode of ‘Bad Girls Club Miami.’ Oxygen was the #1 ranked cable network in the hour among W18-34, W18-49 and A18-49, out-delivering broadcast network the CW.”
The series featured the usual drama of a competition reality show, as well as cocktail, wedding and vampire styles. There is no official word on a new season. However, with the success of the first season, it seems likely that the network will get going on a new season very soon! Whether the show features outrageous styles or tips for how your hair style can make your face look thinner, the new season should be very interesting.
