Ryan Seacrest can’t seem to turn down a job! The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the American Idolhost is reportedly in talks with CAA talent agency and entertainment empire AEG about launching a joint cable network. This would add to his jobs of producing such shows as Keeping Up With The Kardashians, as well as appearing on his own radio show.
Perhaps Seacrest has taken a page from Oprah Winfrey. If the deal goes through, Seacrest would reportedly operate mainly as an influential partner for the cable network, as opposed to the face of the new channel like Oprah will be doing for her upcoming new network. However, the new deal would not prevent Seacrest from continuing his work on E! or American Idol.
The Hollywood Reporter describes the concept for the network to be “music, pop culture and lifestyle oriented.” Seacrest will reportedly have some sort of on-screen presence, which has yet to be determined.
Forbes is reporting that the network is tentatively titled AXS. There is speculation that live concerts would air on the network, as AEG is a concert promoter that films popular acts internationally. Some of their shows have tincluded performances from the Staples Center, L.A. Live, and London’s the O2. There is also no word yet if any American Idol acts will somehow be worked into the network.
