Jersey Shore is coming to the Lifetime Network in the form of a Russian bear. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Lifetime will air Brighton Beach, a series conceived as a Jersey Shore featuring Russian-Americans. The case will include varying ages and families, unlike the young adult stars of Jersey Shore.
Says the Hollywood Reporter of the new show, “about a group of Russian-Americans living on Coney Island in Brooklyn†and “will have a multi-generational cast that better reflects Lifetime’s audience. The show will chronicle several colorful families, with the show’s action centered on a popular local nightclub.â€
Originally the show’s producers put out a casting notice that was looking for “a group of Russian-American strangers living together in a house on the shores of Brighton Beach for a summer. The cameras will roll as you do what you do best — eat, drink and PARTY.â€
Brighton Beach Producer Elina Miller told the New York Post, “We are big fans of ‘Jersey Shore,’ but the Russian community has its own set of characters which we think could be even more interesting. There will be plenty of vodka, techno music and guys wearing Adidas pants, leather jackets and gold chains, and driving souped-up cars. There will also be a lot of hot, decked-out Russian girls.â€
There is no word yet on when the show might air, who the cast includes, or how many episodes Lifetime has ordered. However, if it is anything like Jersey shore, it seems certain that the stakes are high for very watchable drama.
