Paula Abdul has moved on from American Idol and back to her dance roots. CBS announced the host and panel of experts for Paula’s very own reality-competition series titled, Live To Dance. Paula will serve as the executive producer and lead expert. She will be joined by host Andrew Gunsberg. The fellow experts are: choreographer Travis Payne and singer/dancer Kimberly Wyatt.
According to CBS, “Live To Dance will represent one of the most inclusive talent searches on television, searching for dancers with raw ability from any age group across the nation performing either solo or in a group.”
Andrew Gunsberg is known as the co-host of “Australian Idol.” Travis Payne was featured as a choreographer/associate director to Kenny Ortega on “This Is It.” He has worked with acts such as Michael Jackson, Usher, Madonna, Miley Cyrus and Janet Jackson. Kimberly Wyatt was an original member of the recording group, The Pussycat Dolls, as well as a judge on the UK Series, “Got To Dance.”
CBS also announced two upcoming open casting calls. The first takes place Thursday, Oct. 14 in New York City at the Jacob Javits Center. The second open casting call will be held in Los Angeles on Oct. 28 (location TBD). Dancers who receive call backs will be asked to attend another round of auditions in New York and Los Angeles.
While it has been announced that the show will premiere on CBS in January, the air date and time has not been released yet. Perhaps Paula will try and take on her old show, American Idol, with her new one.
