Jack Mackenroth, the muscular designer from season 4’s cycle of Project Runway, who made an abrupt exit, shocking everyone, is back in the spotlight. The designer is lending his fame to raise awareness for HIV education though his campaign Living Positive By Design at California’s largest HIV/AIDS fundraising event, the 26th Annual AIDS Walk.
Taking place in Los Angeles today, Sunday, October 17th, Jack will lead his team, walking alongside an estimated 30,000 other walkers.
Said the former Project Runway star:
I am honored to be bringing Living Positive By Design to Los Angeles to help combat the stigma still associated with HIV. At this year’s AIDS Walk Los Angeles, I hope to engage people in thoughtful conversation about the disease and to encourage those living with the disease to have a positive outlook on life.
Since the launch of Living Positive By Design, Jack has visited 12 cities, including those hardest hit by the HIV epidemic.
Jack Mackenroth has been living with HIV for more than 20 years, and it was from complications with the disease that made him leave the show early so he could seek medical care from his local doctor, despite being in a favorable position with the judges.
If you remember to way back in season four, after Jack left, they brought back jolly designer Chris March, who had been previously eliminated. He went on the make the final four, though he failed to make it Bryant Park – most likely due to those weird hair dresses he created. It was just announced this week that March landed his own reality show.
