Last week, the Top Chef: Just Desserts pastry chefs were faced with creating soufflés and edible fashion. This week, the contestants must whip up a tasty treat with limited resources, as well as a black and white dessert.
For week 6, viewers can expect The Quickfire challenge to limit the pastry chefs by only allowing them one pot. The use of blenders, mixers or other kitchen appliances are not allowed. Top Chef: Just Desserts judge Gail Simmons points out they can wash their pot as many times as they like with this week’s apparent sponsor Dawn dish soap. The challenge baffles Danielle, as she doesn’t know how she will create a quality dessert using just one pot. The drama doesn’t stop there, as in his haste running around the Top Chef: Just Desserts kitchen, Morgan elbows Heather H. in the face, which leaves a bump on her lip. This of course gives her one more reason to dislike him.
For the elimination challenge, look for the pastry chefs to go to Albertsons grocery store with $500 to create a black and white dessert. It makes some of the pastry chefs nervous because they love color in their desserts. It will be especially tricky for Zac because, “They don’t make black disco dust.” Eric, however, is comfortable with the black and white theme because he makes all sorts of deserts with that contrast. Landing near the bottom at the judges’ table the last couple of weeks has made Eric feel like he has to stop moping around and he exudes confidence he has the edge this week.
