The City: Whitney Port Confirms Show Cancellation

October 26, 2010 09:00 AM by Allyson Wells

Just yesterday, Reality TV Magazine reported that Whitney Port was leaving New York City and moving back to Los Angeles.  Whitney revealed yesterday that MTV has cancelled her show, The City.

Whitney confirmed the show’s cancellation to Ryan Seacrest on his radio show.  “As of right now, it doesn’t really look like we’re doing it anymore.”  The City was a spin-off of The Hills and followed Whitney from her job at Teen Vogue to New York City to work for fashion designer Diane von Fustenberg.  The show never quite had the ratings of the Hills.  The show premiered to an average of 1.6 million viewers, which is less than the season finale of the Hills.

Seacrest asked Whitney if there was a possibility that The City could continue on another network.  “No, at this point it’s not.”  However, Whitney sounded optimistic about her future.  “It’s okay.  One door closes and another opens.”  Whitney was most recently involved visiting the country of Liberia as part of a charity effort.

Whitney did not say what her future choices could be and only said she is “working on some other things.”  She has spoken out on how happy she is with boyfriend Ben Nemtin.  He could be part of the reason Whitney is returning to Los Angeles.  The two recently returned from a romantic getaway to Hawaii.  Whitney has also said she has no plans to appear on Lauren Conrad’s new reality show, but now that Whitney is seemingly unemployed, anything is possible!
