Over the weekend, the wife of an America’s Got Talent contestant died at the hotel where the auditions were being held. Now, America’s Got Talent judge Sharon Osbourne is speaking out about the mysterious death, which also involved the use of drugs.
While the show had no official statement regarding the incident, Sharon Osbourne spoke out about the tragic and mysterious death on her other co-hosting gig, CBS’ The Talk. While the incident is tragic, Sharon maintains that there is no link between the show and the death of the contestant’s wife. “It’s a very, very sad thing, but as I say, it was just one of the things he was doing that day, auditioning for our show. There’s no connection.”
Sharon went on to offer condolences to the family of Laura Finley. Her husband, Joe Finley, auditioned for the show on this past Saturday. Her husband insists that the death is a homicide, but the Los Angeles police have not yet made a ruling on whether the death was a suicide, homicide or accident. Lt. Fred Corral spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the death and said, “The coroner’s office performed an autopsy and the cause of death is deferred for 8 to 10 weeks, pending toxicology.”
It was revealed that Joey Finley was arrested after being questioned about Laura’s death. He was arrested for possession of ecstasy, which he admitted that both he and Laura took on the night prior to her death. He is currently out on $10,000 bail.
