American Idol: Kid Rock Disses Steven Tyler’s Idol Decision

November 02, 2010 07:00 AM by Shayla Perry

Apparently, not everyone is thrilled to see former Aerosmith front-man, Steven Tyler at the American Idol judges’ table this January on Fox. Kid Rock, for one, had some pretty harsh words about the legendary rocker’s decision to join the hit reality show. What did Rock have to say? Read on for all of the juicy details!

Kid Rock recently spoke out against new Idol judge, Steven Tyler’s decision to join Randy Jackson and other newcomer, Jennifer Lopez, on the Fox reality show for the 2011 season.

“I think it’s the stupidest thing he’s ever done in his life,” Rock told Entertainment Weekly. “He’s a sacred American institution of rock ‘n’ roll, and he just threw it all out the window. Just stomped on it and set it on fire.”

The rocker even went as far as to suggest that Steven Tyler get professional help, telling the magazine, “I think whoever’s advising him, we should bring back the guillotine, or whatever they call that thing.” Rock added, “And if it was himself, he needs some serious counseling. I love him to death, but I gotta speak the truth.”

Ouch! Tell us how you really feel Kid Rock!

Steven Tyler obviously disagrees with Rock’s slightly biased opinion. When he was announced as a new judge on Fox’s American Idol alongside Randy Jackson and singer/actress Jennifer Lopez, Tyler called the gig a “dream come true.”

Will his stint on Idol wreck Steven Tyler’s image? Only time will tell!

The new season of American Idol premieres on Fox this January.
