She tried to convince others on the newly merged Libertad tribe to join her side, but 23-year-old Alina Wilson couldn’t pull it off and became the latest person booted from Survivor: Nicaragua on CBS.  In a conference call with reporters, Alina openly discussed her thoughts on the biggest villain this season — NaOnka.  She also talked about her thoughts on the editing, Marty and Fabio’s smarts (or lack thereof).

Question: The moment you saw Kelly B. gone, did you possibly think you were in trouble come the merge with your main ally out?

Alina Wilson: She was my main ally, but at the same time she was a huge target.  I hate to say it, because I love Kelly B. and I would have loved to play with her till the end.  But I was actually slightly relieved.  By association, everybody put us together.  Maybe if she’s gone, maybe I can work on something without the threat of her being my alliance.  In a way, I was kind of happy to see her go.  I know that sucks and I wish that she would have stayed.  But by association, everybody hated me because they hated her.  I was kind of happy when she left.

Question: Looking back at Tribal Council, do you think anybody is taking what Marty said about Jane into consideration?  Or do you think everybody was tuning him out because he was panicking?

Alina Wilson: I think everybody was kind of irritated by Marty because he is a strategist.  He’s very smart at the game, but he kind of sabotages himself by being so vocal about it while trying to teach everybody the game.  I think everybody already knew that Jane was a threat — just like they knew that Kelly B. was a threat.  They’re not the smartest strategic players, but at the same time, I think they were smart enough to see that.  So he didn’t really need to illustrate that — and all 0f all places — did not need to illustrate it at Tribal Council.

Question: We’re not really seeing much of Dan and Kelly S. on the show.  Are they playing more strategically than we’re seeing?

Alina Wilson: I think the editing is absolutely spot on.  I don’t think that they were being strategic at all.  I don’t think that they had much to add.  I don’t think that they were physical in any way, and they didn’t really add much to camp.  So, I think they’re getting a very fair edit.

Question: What was it like for you to watch and see that when NaOnka approached you that it was fake, and she was doing it in hopes of getting a vote from you in the end?

Alina Wilson: Here’s the thing.  I look back on it now, and I guess I was being a little bit naive.  I really did think that she was legitimately trying to start something new with me.  I thought she was giving me a heads up about the fact that everybody was gunning for me so that we could actually do something about it.  Obviously, now I realize that wasn’t what she was doing.  But at the same time, I don’t think she’s strategic enough to have done that.  I think afterward, she probably felt random about doing the entire thing (stealing food), and then random about telling me about it.  She had to come up with some sort of explanation, and the best explanation she should come up with was to get a jury vote out of me — when I would never have given my jury vote to her anyway. …

Question: Why is NaOnka still in the game?

Alina Wilson: She really should have gone instead of Shannon.  That’s seriously my fault.  I should have not gunned for Brenda so hard.  I don’t understand why NaOnka is in the game.  I don’t understand why she’s getting so much air time.  I don’t get any of her personality.  I get nothing about her, and it drives me crazy just as much as I’m sure it drives all the viewers crazy. …  She’s definitely entertaining, and she’s a one-of-a-kind personality that we’ve never seen.  But it is frustrating that she’s still there.  It’s frustrating that she’s getting away with what she’s getting away with.  I’ve said it many times — she gets away with things that I could never get away with.  If I had done half the things she did while I was out there, I would have been gone fast.

Question: Is Fabio as clueless as he appears, or is that an act?

Alina Wilson: I really don’t think it’s an act.  Fabio is clueless, but he’s a smart guy.  It’s not that he’s dumb, but he is very up in the air.  He’s all over the place.  He kind of blows with the wind.  That’s exactly what he’s being edited to look like.  He did blow from one direction to another at the drop of a dime.  It was kind of interesting to watch being there, because I could see it happening.  I could see him when he was so involved with Shannon, he would have done anything that Shannon would have said.  As soon as Shannon left, he blew to another direction.  When something happened there, he blew to another direction.  It kind of makes him seem like an airhead, and he kind of is.  Whether he’s intelligent or not, his personality tends to just kind of float around rather than be solid and be confident.
