Despite rumors that the show’s been cancelled, Fox’s hit reality show, So You Think You Can Dance will be returning for an eighth season next summer, but with a few changes in the show’s format planned. What can we expect to see? Keep reading for all the inside info!
Fans of Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance can sigh a HUGE sigh of relief knowing that the show will go on for at least another season. But the show that returns next summer won’t look the same as it did before.
According to SYTYCD head judge and executive producer, Nigel Lythgoe, the format will be a combination of last summer’s show and the previous structure. Nigel admitted that the last season’s format indeed needed some tweaking, and had previously promised fans that changes would be made.
Responding to rumors of the show’s cancellation, Lythgoe wrote on Twitter that the show will be “Back next year with both a Top 20 and the #AllStars.”
Perhaps one of the biggest changes in store for fans is the introduction of Mia Michaels and Adam Shankman as judges, replacing Mary Murphy, who served as both judge and choreographer on previous seasons. In a panel discussion last month with the touring company of Burn The Floor, Mary said that she was negotiating to return to her spot at the judges’ table full-time next summer.
So will Mary actually be there when the show premieres next season? We’ll keep you posted on all the details as they come in!
