NBC is hoping to capitalize on the popularity of survival and dating themed reality shows with their newest series, Love in the Wild. What’s the premise? Will it just be a more rugged, outdoorsy version of The Bachelor Pad [pictured]? When will it start? We’ve got all the details! Keep reading!
If you’re a fan of Survivor and The Bachelor, or any other dating show for that matter, then NBC is hoping to lure you in with a brand new reality show that combines aspects of both of the hit reality series.
Love in the Wild (which happens to be produced by Tom Shelly, who also produces Survivor and Dating in the Dark) throws twenty single men and women together in the wilderness, with each couple paired up in the middle of the jungle with nothing to rely on but a map and each other. In every episode, in addition to having to reach a specified destination, the contestants will also face challenges along the way, designed to test them both physically and emotionally.
After each challenge, some couples will be treated to a romantic evening at an oasis, and will then have the chance to either stay with their current partner, or switch partners for the next challenge. So think: Survivor by day; Bachelor/Bachelorette style hot tub scenes by night. Sounds like this could be the source of some major drama throughout the course of the show!
Hopefully, this “oasis” contains a shower, or we’re not sure how many love connections will actually be made in the middle of a sweaty, bug-infested jungle.
The series is slated to last for eight episodes and will premiere next summer on NBC.
In the meantime, we’ll keep you posted with more details on Love in the Wild as they become available.
