Despite being injured in a horrible biking accident that forced doctors to put him into a medically induced coma, pro BMX biker TJ Lavin will still serve as the host of MTV’s Real World Road Rules Challenges. Keep reading for the latest details on Lavin’s recovery.
TJ Lavin has just come home after being hospitalized following a brutal BMX accident, and after settling in, his fiancee Roxanne Siordia reports, “He’s making a lot of progress. He starts outpatient rehab (Tuesday). Everything is going good. He loves being at home on the couch with the dogs.”
Though Siordia tells the magazine that the adjustment hasn’t been too dificult for the 33-year-old Lavin, she says that there are still a few things that he does miss.
“It’s hard because we are both super active,” says Siordia. “It’s kind of hard being a little more sedentary. But we have each other.” Siordia adds, “He’s still super funny.”
That he is…. According to TJ’s mother, during one of his last rehab sessions, he was asked to name three historical events. Lavin named the terrorist attacks of September 11th, Pearl Harbor, and “Janet Jackson‘s boob.”
Lavin is expected to make a full recovery, but sports are a definite “no-go” at this point. “He has to take a year off from motorcycles, bikes, and anything like that,” says Roxanne.
But even though he’s prohibited from participating in extreme sports, Lavin still has something to occupy his time. Fans of MTV’s Real World Road Rules Challenges can still expect to see TJ hosting the show when the next challenge begins!
