Dancing With The Stars: ABC Defends Voting System

November 20, 2010 09:00 AM by Lisa Princ

After the elimination of Brandy and Maks this week on Dancing With The Stars on ABC, paired with the fact that low scoring Bristol Palin is still competing, has fans in an uproar and folks from all over have been complaining about ABC’s faulty voting system. According to ABC however, there is nothing wrong with their voting system. Keep reading for more details on this story!

Dancing With The Stars pro dancer, Maksim Chmerkovskiy recently told E! Online of ABC’s voting system “I definitely think that the system is flawed. I think there are a lot of problems with it. I have a lot of friends in the Philadelphia area who couldn’t call at all. People here, in front of me, picked up the phone, dialed one time and it said, ‘Thank you for voting. You are over your limit.’” But Maks is not the only one complaining as ABC has been flooded with emails since Monday from viewers saying they are planning to abandon the show and that it’s a “joke” and a “disgrace” that Bristol Palin is still competing. One man from Wisconsin even went as far as shooting his television after the teen mom’s performance.

One particular conservative website also claimed to have cracked ABC’s online voting system by registering fake emails which resulted in one person claiming to have voted for Bristol Palin 300 times in three hours. So what does ABC have to say about these allegations? Conrad Green, an executive producer for the show said “It’s possible to register lots of e-mail addresses, but the IP address identifies which computer sent it. If that does happen, we wipe out those votes. We have a number of security checks to identify people trying to multiple vote.” As for the phone issues, Conrad Green says that is just par for the course because Dancing With The Stars is such a popular show and claims “Local phone services get jammed due to volume, that’s technical limitations due to popularity. It’s just the nature of the beast but it affects everyone equally.”

What do you think of ABC’s voting system? Do you think it is flawed and that’s how Bristol Palin escaped elimination once again? Comment and share your thoughts with us! I thing Palin should have left weeks ago.She tried but she did not make the grade .It looks like mom is paying for some favors for Bristol .If she get any closer than what she is now I will not ever watch the show ever again. I have always enjoyed the show but if she wins thats it .
