To celebrate the LGBT people of the year, Out Magazine selected their 2010 Out 100 honorees. Fittingly, Skating With the Stars judge Johnny Weir was named their Diva of the Year. The magazine photographed each honoree recreating an event that was pivotal in the evolution of the LGBT cause. The events they chose to highlight include Truman Capote’s Black and White Ball, the Stonewall riots and Studio 54. Any guess which moment in time Johnny Weir helped capture?

For Johnny Weir could it be anything other than Studio 54? While singer Ricky Martin was named Entertainer of the Year and actress Julianne Moore nabbed Artist of the Year, the flamboyant Johnny Weir was dubbed Diva of the Year and photographed by Jason Schmidt in his dramatically glam best.

The 26-year-old figure skater and ABC reality show judge began skating at the age of 12 and went on to compete in two Olympic games and win three U.S. championships. Johnny Weir is currently ranked 12th in the world by the International Skating Union and even had his own reality show “Be Good Johnny Weir” on the Sundance Channel.

Despite these accomplishments, Out Magazine chose Johnny Weir as their Diva of the Year because, “Ultimately, it’s his commitment to glamour and pageantry and his dexterous, playful handling of the controversies that dog him off the ice that have made him such a fascinating and beloved figure.”

Not only that, but, “Weir has never hidden his fondness for flamboyance. He’s regularly dusted in a blizzard of glitter, his signature showpiece is a routine choreographed to Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face,” and earlier this year, when faced with death threats from animal rights activists horrified by his decision to wear fox fur, he was defiantly unapologetic, responding, ‘I’m not passionate about learning how animals get killed. I’m passionate about fashion, and I am not going to change something I love because someone tells me it’s wrong.’”
