He’s a renowned fashion designer and tough judge on The Fashion Show Ultimate Collection, but Isaac Mizrahi is also concerned about America’s youth. He is currently seeking a grant from the Pepsi Refresh Project for a program that is close to his heart. To find out more, keep on reading.
Bravo reality TV show star Isaac Mizrahi is a board member of Good Shepherd Services, which is a leading youth development, education and family service agency that gives vulnerable youth in New York City the opportunity to take ownership of their future. With the Pepsi Refresh Grant, Good Shepherd Services would incorporate a healthy eating and exercise program for 2,000 children at 11 of their after-school programs. Their proposed year-long program would expose children to healthy diet and fitness habits.
The Pepsi Refresh Project looks for people, businesses and non-profits who have ideas that will create a positive impact. Anyone can submit an proposal, as Pepsi accepts 1000 ideas every month. Based on the voting, organizations can receive $5,000, $25,000, $50,000 or $250,000. Past funded organizations have included World Wide Wheels, who give bicycles away to promote health and fitness; helloChange, who prevents kids from using tobacco; Jobs for Arizona’s Graduates, which provides teens with the tools to compete in the 2011 job market; Wayne State University, who is seeking to identify anticancer compounds in cumin; and Esperanza Foundation, who provides foster kids and low-income children with college scholarships.
Grants are given to the organization with the highest votes. Voting ends November 30 and can be done at Refresh Everything.
