The Fashion Show Ultimate Collection week four required the fashion designers to create fashion forward designs using historical eras for inspiration. And oh, yeah, they also had to incorporate plaid in their designs. That last bit was due to Iman’s love for the print, but what did she think of the challenge overall? Keep on reading to find out what she had to say on her blog on Bravo.
When asked if she was impressed with what The Fashion Show Ultimate Collection designers came up with based on their instructions, Iman answered, “Beyond! Fashion challenges are challenging at the best of the times but this was difficult. The trick was not to make it costume-y and of course stay cohesive. It’s like story telling or vignettes….but here you had to tell the story visually.”
What era would she like to dress from? “J’adore the ’40s…..I loved the hour glass womanly designs, because they were sexy without revealing too much, the length was divine, and the cinched waists! So me!” she enthused.
After three straight losses, House of Emerald finally pulled out a win this past week. What did Iman attribute that to? The Fashion House Ultimate Collection judge replied, “Like a phoenix they have risen from the ashes! Good for them to finally nailing it! It was the most cohesive, and they took the inspirations form the time capsule and embedded in their looks without looking contrived. It was chic and modern.”
What was so impressive about Jeffrey’s 1989 inspired design, garnering him the overall win? Iman explained, “It was on point with the era without being costume-y, and they also modernized it. It is the way I would have dressed the ladies from Dynasty, and Isaac was truly inspired … how can you go wrong with that combo?”
Even though Jeffrey had the winning design during week four, Iman was also impressed by Cesar’s two creations. As she elaborated, “Hail Cesar! He is back in full force and stamina. I loved the hand painted fabric and only Cesar would have the audacity to create 2 dresses AND create a fabric. It was ambitious but genius. Now, all he has to do is not get mediocre on us.”
Can Cesar continue to wow The Fashion Show Ultimate Collection judges? Will House of Emerald capitalize on their recent success? Watch The Fashion Show Ultimate Collection next Tuesday at 10:00 pm on Bravo to find out.
