Dancing with the Stars: Details on Ochocinco’s Engagement

December 04, 2010 12:00 PM by Shayla Perry

After confirming news of their engagement earlier this week, ABC’s Dancing with the Stars alum, Chad Ochocinco and his bride-to-be, reality TV star Evelyn Lozada dished on the details of how he popped the question.

“He had a jeweler come to the house,” Lozada told Us Magazine. “[It was] a total surprise! We sat there and picked out the ring.”

Evelyn ended up choosing a round, 10-carat diamond with “pave diamonds around the stone and around the band as well,” she explained. “I fell in love with [the ring] and he loved it too.”

“It was definitely exciting,” said Lozada, who revealed that Chad also gave “input of what he liked and didn’t like–that was super cute! He definitely had a say-so.”

So has the couple started making any wedding plans?

“To be honest, [Basketball Wives] is airing in literally two weeks,” said Evelyn. “[Chad's] playing football. We’re waiting for the show and football season to end so we can start focusing on the next stage in our lives.”

But that doesn’t mean the bride-to-be hasn’t already thought about what kind of wedding she wants.

“I’ve always envisioned my wedding as cream color and white. Very clean. A lot of candles. He was born and raised in Miami and I live there now–that whole Miami vibe,” she said.

And for her dress, Lozada told Us that she wants a “mermaid style” gown. “Very fitted. I’ve always loved corset, sexy, formfitting dresses.”

Lozada may have her mind made up, but we’re sure Chad Ochocinco, who’s known for his crazy antics, will have some input too.

“He’s very interesting,” Evelyn told the magazine. “You never know what he’s going to say, and he has a great sense of humor.”

According to Lozada, co-owner of the shoe boutique, Dulce, the two “met” through Twitter, and have since developed a very strong relationship.

“Before we met, we communicated over the phone for a month. We got to know each other like that before seeing each other. We have a true friendship. And he can keep up with my mouth! I’m very verbal, and say what I think and feel. He’s the same way. He makes me laugh.”
