Check in with Melissa Rycroft of ABC’s The Bachelor as she talks to Celebrity Baby Scoop about pregnancy, the Jersey Shore, her holiday plans with husband Tye Strickland, and finding the balance between work and motherhood.
CBS: We loved your Halloween costumes. Are you and Tye fans of Jersey Shore?
MR: It’s definitely a guilty pleasure of ours. When it came to Halloween costumes, I was looking around at all the maternity ones and they’re huge. They think that just because you’re pregnant you want to be put in a box or a big M&M costume. Plus, it’s hot where we were going to be and those types of costumes are just not attractive. We decided to take the fun route and do Jersey Shore because we know their characters and they were fun characters to play for the night.
CBS: What’s up next for you?
MR: Next is mommyhood. I live in Dallas so within the next five weeks now, I’ll be grounded. I’ll be stuck in Dallas. I shouldn’t even say stuck in Dallas. It will be some nice time off from traveling and work for the next few months until she gets here. And then we will see how tolerant she will be of the work schedule because she’ll probably be accompanying me a lot. And I’m sure she’ll dictate how much I can go back to work and how soon I can.
It’s hard to have a plan because I don’t live where I work so that is going to be one thing that we will have to get used to as a family, is the traveling. If I’m traveling that probably means she’s traveling, meaning Tye’s not going to want to be at home. Every time I come out to New York or L.A. to do some work, it’s going to be all three of us that will pack up and go. I’m not quite sure how that’s going to work yet. I’m going to be trying to find that balance between work and being a mom, just like everyone else. Mine’s kind of an extreme case because I work so far away from where I live. I’m anxious to see how it works out because we’re definitely going to try.
CBS: What are your holiday plans? Do you have any special traditions?
MR: Not really traditions. We’re going to be home, we’ll be in Dallas this year. Because our parents live about 10 miles away from each other, we can make the rounds and see both sides for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Next year, we’ll be starting some new traditions because we’ll be the ones with the little bundle and people will probably be coming to us instead of us coming to them. This is a scary thought in and of itself because I don’t know how to cook and I’ll be responsible for the holiday meals.
CBS: We wish you the best of luck as you had into your last couple of months.
MR: It’s already kind of started, the uncomfortableness, but I’m ready. I’m ready for her to get here and I’ll be ready to have control of my body again.
