Yes, it was the perfect scenario for a fairy-tale engagement–a romantic Thanksgiving getaway in Paris, filled with fine dining, shopping and sightseeing, but according to the reigning champ of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, Derek Hough, American Idol host Ryan Seacrest did not propose to his sister, Julianne Hough this week.
“I haven’t heard anything [about an engagement] and I am sure I would have if it were true,” Hough told PEOPLE magazine.
For his sake, we’re hoping he’s right, because that’s a really bad way to find out you’re not as close to your family as you thought.
So, Ryan may not have popped the question yet, but that’s not to say that a proposal isn’t in the couple’s future. For big brother Derek, who isn’t exactly in a hurry for his little sis to go waltzing down the aisle any time soon, he’s hoping the two will take things slow.
“I think she might be a little young,” said Hough. “But we are all very supportive, and as long as she is happy that is what matters.”
And if it does happen, Derek Hough says that Ryan will fit right in with the family.
“We are all very similar,” Derek told the magazine. “It’s his sense of humor, work ethic and how he always puts family first.”
Julianne obviously gets along well with Ryan’s family too. It’s reported that Ryan’s mom and sister also tagged along for the trip.
The new season of American Idol premieres Wednesday, January 19th on FOX.
