It’s been a month since the body of Julien Hug, a former contestant of ABC’s The Bachelorette, was found off a highway in Southern California. In that time, Hug’s girlfriend, Jennifer Bell, says that she’s still had “tremendous temptation and interest to make sense of the senselessness.”
“Not much has changed in my life in the past month, other than utter sadness and emptiness at the loss of my best friend and greatest love,” the 35-year-old Bell told RadarOnline.com.
“Julien is incredibly missed and has left very hard shoes for anyone to fill.”
Bell had been living with Julien Hug for the past two years. “We were the light of each other’s life. Everyone, I mean everyone loved this man. We lived together in San Diego, in a beautiful condo.”
According to Jennifer, the couple even had plans of getting married.
“We talked about getting married in Montauban, France,” Bell told RadarOnline.com. “He even spoke French to me. He spoke the language so eloquently and lovely.”
Before taking his own life, Julien Hug left handwritten notes for his parents, Bertrand and Denise Hug, and a few close friends, telling them that he was suffering from “severe depression” and felt that suicide was the only answer to his problems.
Though it’s been hard for Bell to come to terms with Julien’s death, she says that she’s been getting a lot of support from friends and strangers alike.
“The community has been incredible, as have the friends that Julien and I share. It’s all just so, so sad. Julien is incredibly missed.”
