The first ever American Country Awards were held on Monday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and one of the big winners of the evening was former American Idol, Carrie Underwood, who was voted Artist of the Year. But that’s not all! Carrie also won in several other categories. Keep reading for all the details!
Carrie Underwood of FOX’s American Idol was nominated for 6 different awards, including Video of the Year, Single of the Year, Tour of the Year, and Album of the year for Play On, in the first ever American Country Awards.
Of those six categories, Carrie took home the award in EACH one!
“We have had the most amazing year out on the road but we wouldn’t be doing anything if there weren’t people out there sitting in that audience,” Underwood said during one of her many acceptance speeches. “So to everybody that came out to see us [or] anybody else out here, you guys are awesome for supporting us like you do. God bless the fans.”
Lady Antebellum, another of the night’s big winners, took home a total of four AMAs, including Single of the Year for their hit “Need You Now,” and Artist of the Year, Duo or Group.
Singer Brad Paisley was voted Male Artist of the Year and the show’s host, Trace Adkins, along with Blake Shelton won for Music Video of the Year.
Performers for the evening included country music stars like Rascal Flatts, Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, Keith Urban, Reba McEntire, Josh Turner, and the Band Perry.
A new season of American Idol premieres Wednesday, January 19 on FOX.
