Worst Cooks In America on Food Network is returning for it’s second season on January 2nd, 2011. Anne Burrell took some time today to chat about the show and much more. Keep reading for all the details!

Food Network’s rising sensation Anne Burrell of Worst Cooks In America is returning for another season of the hit series, but this time Beau MacMillan will not be joining her. Instead she will be joined by Robert Irvine, well known for hosting “Dinner Impossible” on Food Network. Anne took some time today to chat in an interview about the show and other topics. Here is what she wanted to share with her fans:

Question: What was the worst thing you had to taste during the new season of Worst Cooks in America?

Anne Burrell: Oh there are so many bad things. On the very first day, the first episode there was a girl named Chelsea who used way too much cayenne and also smoked everyone out – we were choking. There was a lot of burning and greasy food that we had to taste.

Question: What has been the most difficult concept to get across to the contestants?

Anne Burrell: To know the recipe and know what is going on. Another big thing is to taste as they go. So many times they get nervous while cooking and I have to tell them to calm down so they don’t miss these things.

Question: How do you keep your cool dealing with these cooks?

Anne Burrell: I try to keep them calm. I try to go by and remind them to stop, breathe and regroup.

Question: What has been the biggest difference in working with Beau last season as opposed to Robert this season?

Anne Burrell: I didn’t know Beau prior to the show, but I do know Robert. Robert and I have worked together before so you will definitely see more smack talking going on between us.

Question: What did you learn last year that you will or will not do this year?

Anne Burrell: Last season I was so unprepared. I was unprepared for the ‘real’ of reality television – I didn’t realize how attached I would become to everyone…I even cried at one point. I was definitely mentally prepared this time around.

Question: What surprised you about these home cooks that you get on the show?

Anne Burrell: I am surprised that people know they are that bad and just continue on instead of pulling out a cook book or seeking help. Instead they just keep repeating the same thing over and over and that amazes me.

Question: Can you give us some good hot chocolate tips for the holidays?

Anne Burrell: Definitely start with milk and add in the cocoa, something like Hershey’s or whatnot. I normally add a bit of cinnamon to mine. You can also a hint of vanilla – there is something about vanilla that makes chocolate taste even more chocolate like. Another tip is that I always add some cornstarch to thicken it up and finish it off with some homemade whipped cream.

Question: What is your best advice for holiday cooking?

Anne Burrell: I would say to definitely stick with a recipe that you know. Don’t attempt something difficult or that you have never done before. It’s better to be simple and wow everyone than not.
