If you happened to miss the season finale of NBC’s a cappella singing competition, The Sing-Off, don’t worry–we’ve got you covered. Get the play by play on all of the performances and find out which group won. And, if you really need us to say it…SPOILER ALERT.
Okay, so for the season finale of The Sing-Off, it was down to four groups: The Backbeats, Committed, Jerry Lawson & the Talk of the Town, and Street Corner Symphony.
The first group eliminated was Jerry Lawson & the Talk of the Town, but only after their performances of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” with judge Nicole Scherzinger, and “Long Road Home” with Sheryl Crow.
The next group to be sent home was the The Backbeats, who performed “King of Anything” with Sara Bareilles.
So then, there were two–Committed and Street Corner Symphony. Earlier in the evening, Street Corner Symphony collaborated with judge Ben Folds for their performance of “Gone,” and Committed did their own rendition of Boyz II Men’s “Motown Philly” with–well, obviously, judge Shawn Stockman and the rest of the Boyz II Men members.
Both groups also sang “Ain’t No Sunshine,” alongside legendary singer-songwriter Neil Diamond.
Many commercial breaks and teasers later (aren’t you glad you missed those?), the winner of the competition was announced by the show’s host, Nick Lachey.
(Sorry, couldn’t resist.)
“I just kind of blanked out for a second and was waiting to hear the name,” Maurice Staple of Committed told TVGuide.com. “When he said Committed, my hearing and everything came back.”
“We kept trying to tell each other to stay calm, breathe, have fun because it’s not going to be like this again,” added Staple’s fellow group member, DJ Baptiste. “This is a moment we have to cherish.”
