A Toronto native, Laurieann Gibson moved to New York City at 17 and trained with the Alvin Ailey Dance Company. She then became a dancer with Mary J. Blige and went on to become a Director of Choreography for Motown and Bad Boy Records. Laurieann Gibson has since worked as a choreographer for the likes of Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Alicia Keys and Katy Perry.
No stranger to reality shows, prior to Skating With the Stars, Laurieann Gibson helped Diddy (or is it P. Diddy? Puffy? Sean Combs?) work with Danity Kane on MTV’s Making The Band and appeared as a choreographer on So You Think You Can Dance. Clearly she knows what it takes to be on a reality show, which will serve her well when her as of yet untitled show will debut on E! in January 2011.
According to Gibson’s interview with US Weekly earlier this fall, her Ryan Seacrest produced reality show is, “…a docu-drama and it follows the creative director, choreographer, artist development, and arts development at Interscope Records. It follows the reality of being both behind and in front of the scenes.”
As for the celebrities viewers may see on the show, Laurieann previewed, “I’m going to have some interactions with my famous stars, but basically they are already done. What is going to be amazing are the new ones. Three years ago, if you could have seen what I went through with Gaga you know that journey would have been amazing. You will see the maintenance of the A-list artists.”
What do you think? Will you watch Laurieann’s new reality show?
