The lost and found challenge of The Fashion Show Ultimate Collection has proven to be the most difficult of the season as judges Iman and Isaac Mizrahi didn’t like either weekend getaway collection. On her blog on Bravo, Iman elaborates on what she really thought of the collections and why David had to go.
This past week, Iman made no bones about how awful she thought both houses collections were. When asked about what she thought went wrong, she replied, “It challenged them to think creatively out-of-the-box and they didn’t hit the mark. Caesar is becoming a little bit like Calvin in being dictatorial. He is cracking under his own self-importance. I would never have said this before — that he should have listened to Cindy — but in this case he should have. He claimed that bathing suits are easy to design, but they became his downfall. Also, the use of too many accessories was this house’s kiss of death, because these were cheap looking accessories.”
However, a winner was still chosen – “Dominique’s dress was young and fresh, and the trench was beautifully made.” – but that might have been the only bright spot in the whole challenge. Iman revealed her thoughts on the “non-losing” House of Nami’s designs. “Their collection was too forced and wasn’t cohesive, with the exception of the colors, and Calvin didn’t design well this time around. I have to say that the palette hid lots of imperfections both from design and the materials point of view, so they were smart by choosing that. The magic of black is that it is forgiving…although I don’t know how intentional that was! One of Calvin’s outfits would definitely have been ‘out of fashion’ if they lost.”
While Dominique won the lost and found challenge her counterpart David was eliminated. What made his garment worse than Cesar’s, who also found himself on the chopping block? “There is no comparison as designers between Cesar and David,” Iman declared. “Cesar is much more accomplished. David has not been producing well, and he had a lot of help from the other designers through all the episodes and you can see he is way out of his depth. He came off as an amateur and all this talk about ‘pecans’ may serve him well on Top Chef but not on The Fashion Show!”
What did you think? Should David have been eliminated? Will he and Dominique continue their romance off the show?
