The four sister’s all have the same goal: following in Toni’s footsteps by working towards music careers of their own.
This family-oriented storyline caught the attention of WE executives.
The network’s target audience is mainly female so it’s looking for family oriented content. WE’s research supported an aim towards shows with comedic family programming.
WE’s president and general manager, Kim Martin, said women identify largely by their relationships so including family content would keep them interested.
The network’s programming chief, John Miller, said the network thinks the relationships depicted on these shows will be a lot more authentic than those portrayed on shows where strangers are placed together in an artificial scenario.
WE is interested in entertaining family personalities and captivating drama, something the show might deliver. Toni Braxton recently revealed she is a lupus survivor, which might get mention on the show. It also remains to be seen if Toni Braxton’s economic problems are worked into the show. Braxton filed for bankruptcy last year and is millions of dollars in debt, according to TMZ. Perhaps a reality show bailout is just what she needs.
“Braxton Family Values” will air in April 2011.
