Kathy Griffin: My Life On The D-List: Comedian Says Buh-Bye To Emmy Award-Winning Show

January 05, 2011 01:00 PM by Paula_Kosowski

People reports Kathy Griffin’s Bravo reality show, My Life On The D-List, ends after six seasons. Read more to find out why she’s leaving the Emmy-winning show and what new projects she’ll be working on…

According to People, Griffin’s ending the show simply because she felt it was time to move on and work on something different.

She told People it was a very tough decision to make.

“I think of The D-List as pretty much my baby for the last six seasons and I also think it was really time to stop doing it,” Griffin told People. “Reality is great, but I really didn’t set out to be a reality star. So now it’s time to spread my wings and show that I’m a little different than Kate Gosselin.”

Griffin will stay with Bravo doing stand-up. They’ve given her four new comedy specials for 2011. The 50-year-old comedian told People she can’t get enough of stand-up and has tons of fresh material.

“[As] long as there’s a show called ‘My Strange Addiction’ about a woman who only eats toilet paper … then I have to do stand up,” Griffin said.

She also hopes to eventually get back into acting on sitcoms, according to People. Griffin told the Magazine she hopes to create a loosely scripted improv show, like HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” featuring characters from “The D-List” and her life.

Griffin’s other dreams include being the third woman to get a Grammy for Best Comedy Album for her work New Years Eve with Anderson Cooper. The first two going to comedians Lily Tomlin and Whoopi Goldberg.

Griffin’s first Bravo special will be shot in Milwaukee early next month. The specials will air quarterly on the network.
