January 06, 2011 01:00 PM by Paula_Kosowski

Hugh Hefner’s former long-term girlfriend and E! Girls Next Door star Holly Madison dishes on congratulating Hefner on his recent engagement and why she filmed it for her new show “Holly’s World.” Read more for her reaction…
Madison tells CNS congratulating 84-year-old Playboy founder Hefner was “awkward, but good.”
“A lot of people congratulated him on Twitter, but for me, it was such a personal thing. I wanted to go there,” Madison says.
The 31-year-old reality star and former Playmate dated Hefner for more than seven years, until 2008. Madison always talked about wanting to get married on E!’s reality show “the Girls Next Door,” but Hefner didn’t seem too keen on it.
Madison tells People she wanted to congratulate Hefner in person and on camera so everyone will know her feelings on Hefner’s engagement.
“After I heard about it, I wanted to save my feelings for the show,” Madison tells People. “I wanted to confront Hef and just get all my feelings out there rather than make a statement.”
Hefner tweeted about the engagement to 24-year-old “Girls Next Door” star Crystal Harris and received online congratulations from many fans and friends.
Madison’s in-person congratulations are already filmed. The episode is scheduled to air Jan. 29 on E!.
