Get ready to see a lot more spills, thrills and giant hams? ABC’s Wipeout is back with a whole new seasonal take on the obstacle-course game show. Read more to see what challenges new contestants will face.
According to ABC, the new season challenges contestants with a winter holiday-themed course designed for failure.
“We created a winter wonderland,” executive producer Matt Kunitz tells TV Guide. “It’s all the fun we’ve had with Wipeout, but with a whole new feel and look.”
The snow and ice filled course features a nightmare trip to Nana’s House, new spinning ski life, and, of course, the classic big balls.
Extra challenges like the Snow-tivator, an airport style moving walkway leading right up to the big balls, are sure to lead to some bone-chilling, and perhaps bone-breaking, wipeouts.
Holiday-themed obstacles like a ginger bread house and “holiday hams,” a task which includes flying pigs, will test contestants as they brave the icy rat race.
“We tell people the best way to win is through speed and momentum. It’s not really true, but it makes for good wipeouts,” Kunitz admitted to TV Guide. “If we’re still laughing after someone hits the Big Balls, we know we’re doing something right.”
Each week 24 contestants will try to jump, swing and dodge their way to the finish line to clear four obstacle courses. If they make it to the top three they’ll move on to compete for the $50,000 grand prize and eminent title of “Wipeout Champion.”
Winter Wipeout premiered yesterday. It will air Thursday nights at 8/9 p.m. EST on ABC.
