This week, Your OWN Show debuted on the Oprah Winfrey Network showing America it’s never too late to follow your dreams! More than 15,000 people auditioned but only one will get their very own show. Find out who you will soon be watching on OWN!

In the series opener, hosts Carson Kressley and Nancy O’Dell explained how the competition will work each week. Through the course of the season, ten hopefuls will produce television segments by themselves on a variety of topics both in front of the camera and behind-the-scenes with A-list mentors. In addition to receiving their own show, Oprah said the winner will also get a new car and a $100,000 prize from Kohl’s. In this week’s episode, “It Takes A Village,” Oprah made a guest appearance and explained to the competitors how important it is to not only be good on camera but to also understand the research and production areas because it takes many people to make a show successful. your-own-show-contestant-elizabeth-espinosa

The ten finalists were split in to two teams the first: Team Vision with Ryan, Zach, Tony, Eric and Alicia; and the second, Team Focuswith Terey, Elizabeth, Kristina, Aunt Flora and Leigh.

Oprah then brought out Dr. Phil McGraw, the first guy to get his very own show from Oprah to help with this week’s task. The teams were asked to come up with a Sex and Relationship segment with Dr. Phil.

After initial reservations, Team Focus stepped it up and worked together to produce a good Q & A segment. For Team Vision however, there were more problems as the women had a power struggle and their video didn’t roll when it was suppose to during their interview with Dr. Phi.Team Focus won this week’s competition securing safety from elimination. For Team Vision it was time for one of their members to go home. Collectively Dr. Phil, Carson and Nancy selected Elizabeth and Leigh to be in the bottom two. Each had to redeem themselves by doing a one-on-one interview with Dr. Phil. In the end, the judges felt Leigh was not ready for her own show yet and sent her home. your-own-show-contestant-leigh-koechner
