The Kardashian sisters of E!’s Keeping Up With The Kardashians fame have more trouble on their hands for backing out of an unpopular credit card deal, according to Radar Online. Keep reading for more details…
Radar Online reports Revenue Resource Group is suing Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe Kardashian (along with their mother, Kile Jenner, and company Dash Dolls LLC) for breaching the heavily critiqued MasterCard contract.
According to the website, the lawsuit claims the Kardashians’ decision caused more than $75 million dollars in credit card damage.
The prepaid debit card was critiqued for having outrageous hidden fees, which led to a strong backlash towards the Kardashians for agreeing to the endorsement.
Radar Online says a Nov. 29 letter from the Kardashians’ lawyer released last year by Richard Blumenthal, Connecticut Attorney General, shows the Kardashians backed out of the agreement, but allowed the bank to still use their images.
Revenue Resource Group wants compensation for the back-out, claiming the Kardashians’ breach of a signed two-year agreement leaves them with the “raw end of the deal,” Radar Online reports.
Radar spoke with Pamela Banks, an adviser for Consumers Union in Washington, D.C., who says “Tying a card to someone who is famous or wealthy can get more consumers to say, ‘I want to be more like the rich and famous.”
Banks says prepaid debit cards often come with disadvantages like hidden fees that “eat away at their value” and don’t offer the same protections that a normal debit card would have.
