Live To Dance: Semi-Finals Begin This Week

January 11, 2011 03:30 PM by Allyson Wells

Paula Abdul’s reality show, Live to Dance, premiered last week and this week the show goes live.  This Wednesday, the first six acts of eighteen chosen finalists will compete live in the semi-final.  Viewers will then have a chance to choose who progresses to the next round.

In its regular time slot of 8 pm, Live to Dance will kick off its first live show by revealing who America chose to be the eighteenth act of the semi-final.  Following the announcement, six acts will put on their dancing shoes for the judges and America.  The expert judges consisting of Paula Abdul, Travis Payne and Kimberly Wyatt will pick on act to advance to the next round.  America will vote on the second act to advance.  There will be two more semi-final rounds before the finale on Wednesday, February 9.

The first six dance acts that are confirmed to compete this week are:  Bev and Hap, large youth group The Vibe, Jittin’ Genius Brandon Hobbs, Chi-Town Finest Breakers, D’Angelo & Amanda, and Austen Acevedo.  Viewers will recall Bev and Hap as the elderly duo that were so elated to make it to the short list, that they did push-ups on stage.  Bev is a young 83 years old, one of the oldest dancers in the competition.  Chi-Town Finest Breakers are a brother and sister break dancing group and a judge favorite.  Young dancing pair D’Angelo and Amanda, ages 10 and 11, stole both the judges’ and audience’s hearts when they revealed they were also a couple and planned to one day get married.  However, Amanda insists on marrying in their twenties, while D’Angelo wants to wait until they are at least thirty.

With such talented dance acts coupled with amazing backstories, the Live to Dance semi-final is off to an exciting start!
