Your OWN Show: Oprah’s Search for the Next TV Star kicked off week two by welcoming fashion designer Vera Wang to the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) studios. On this episode, “Let The Transformations Begin” the challenge awaiting the teams was to create makeover segments for two inspirational women.

Before meeting the deserving Mom’s, Vera Wang spoke to the nine remaining contestants about the importance of makeovers explaining the key factor to a makeover process is, “Bringing out someone’s hidden potential.”

The wardrobe for this task was from Vera’s collection Simply Vera at Kohl’s and hair stylist Ken Paves who has done many makeovers for the Oprah Show also contributed to the makeovers by providing hair and make-up.

Recently having lost 140 pounds and enduring the tragedy of her house burning down, Barbra was shocked when Team Focus surprised her to tell her the good news that she would be receiving a makeover thanks to a letter from her daughter!

Team Focus comprised of Alicia, Zach, Ryan, Eric and Tony selected Ryan as the executive producer this week and Eric and Alicia to co-host the segment. Barbra was whisked away to Kohl’s by Ryan and Alicia who helped her find a new outfit while Tony, Zach and Eric decided on graphics for the show and wrote the script.

Meanwhile, Team Vision met Laurie to give her the good news that she was selected for a makeover. A single mother of three and a breast-cancer survivor, Laurie recently went back to school and graduated. But as Laurie’s daughter explained in her letter—her Mom needs a new look for job interviews.

Last week, having lost a contestant; Elizabeth, Kristina, Aunt Flora and Terey now made up Team Vision. Kristina took on executive producing duties while Terey and Elizabeth hosted and wrote the script. Aunt Flora helped Kristina with wardrobe, hair, make-up and technical decisions. A pivotal moment came when Kristina made the decision to include hair stylist Ken Paves in their segment. Team Vision chose to interview Ken along with Vera much to the delight of the judges.

When the cameras started rolling for Team Focus, Eric stumbled with his lines and questions while hosting and cost the team precious time which was allotted for showcasing Barbra and her daughter embracing after her new look was revealed.

For Team Vision, things went much smother as the segment seamlessly came together and Judges Vera Wang, Carson Kressley and Nancy O’Dell commended them for including Ken Paves since the makeover was about clothing, hair and make-up. Team Vision won this week’s event and received immunity from elimination.

After talking to Team Focus about what went wrong the judges selected Ryan and Eric to be in the bottom two. For redemption they needed to conduct one-on-one interviews with Vera. Ryan did research and asked Vera interesting questions and held Carson and Nancy’s attention during his interview. When Eric came out instead of a traditional interview he began asking Vera why he was in the final two and discussed who was to blame for this week’s task going wrong.

The judges again brought out Eric and Ryan and moved Ryan forward to next week, explaining to Eric that they would not be producing his own show.

After watching the last two shows, I’m disappointed with your choices for hosts. A 14 yr old boy, who wrote the top i-phone app, Bubbles, gave a better interview without q-cards. Interviewed people in the news are usually more articulate, energetic, and personable than most of your choices. Didn’t you have very many entries? Your concept is wonderful but, I think interviewing skills are a developed God given talent…as, is a musician. I hope there is more talent out there. I’m going to miss the Oprah show and with there were more as good.
