Just as FOX’s Kitchen Nightmares is about premiere it’s new season, Chef Gordon Ramsay is making headlines once again. This time, he is being called a “fish hypocrite” by fans and critics, but what is causing this uproar? Keep reading for more details!
Kitchen Nightmares star Gordon Ramsay is back in the headlines. So why is he being accused of being a “fish hypocrite”. Recently, Gordon Ramsay appeared on an English television program: Gordon Ramsay: Shark Bait, which had him campaigning against the shark fishing industry. Gordon’s episode, which was part of a series in the UK called “the big fish fight” focused on the controversial dish shark fin soup and how overfishing could lead to the extinction of over a third of the world’s open ocean shark species.
Apparently, Gordon Ramsay along with rival chef Jamie Oliver, who also participated in the special have both been caught serving European endangered eel on their menus after the airing of the series, leading critics and fans alike to accuse them of being “fish hypocrites”. While there is some controversy over whether or not the eels are endangered it has been reported that the population has declined dramatically and that it is in danger due to pollution in the water. Nor Gordon Ramsay or his spokesperson had any comments, but when contacted by The Sun Times he removed the eels from his menus so that says it all!
