Worst Cooks In America: Matt Crepsi Shares What He Learned From The Show

January 19, 2011 08:00 AM by Lisa Princ

This past Sunday on Worst Cooks in America on Food Network we watched as Matt Crespi, who has come off as somewhat chaotic in the kitchen, was finally eliminated after destroying a few of Robert’s easily recreated meals. In a post elimination interview, Matt talks about what he learned from Robert Irvine and his experience on the show. Keep reading for more details!

Food Network’s Worst Cooks in America fans watched as Matt Crespi completely destroyed his shrimp this week as well as his turkey dinner recreation. So what did Matt really get out of his experience on the show and working with Robert Irvine? In a post elimination interview Matt says “The most valuable thing I learned from Chef Robert was how to effectively use knives without injuring myself.” and that he left with “Some cooking skills, some confidence in the kitchen, the ability to feed myself, 15 friends, 3 knives and one great story.”

So is Matt still attempting to better his cooking skills at home? Matt says he is as he tells Food Network “When I got home, I cooked a pretty simple pan fried chicken dish with peas. By my pre-show standards, it was epically edible. Since then, I’ve even invented a few successful recipes.” Oddly enough, he goes on to say his biggest piece of advice for competitors on the show is “Also, don’t run while holding out a freshly sharpened chef’s knife. I cannot stress this enough.” I am still not sure how he managed to make it through three weeks without cutting off one of his fingers, but it sounds he has learned his lesson, thanks to Robert Irvine!
