The Real Housewives of Atlanta: Peter Thomas Sets the Record Straight!

January 26, 2011 02:30 PM by Shayla Perry

This season on Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta, newcomer Cynthia Bailey and her fiancee (husband?) Peter Thomas were in the midst of planning their dream wedding when Peter made the decision to shut down his restaurant, Uptown. Bailey has said many times throughout the show that she loaned Peter thousands of dollars to get the business going, and she wants that money back! But in an interview with Uptown Magazine (no relation), Peter Thomas sets the record straight about the loan from Cynthia Bailey, and tells us how he really feels about the rest of the Hotlanta Housewives!

“As much as I appreciate what she’s done, it probably came across to everybody that she put up all this money to help me build this restaurant,” Peter Thomas told Uptown Magazine in an interview. “No. Initially, she put up $10,000. Uptown [Restaurant and Lounge] cost several hundred thousand dollars– $10,000 couldn’t buy the silverware and the plates at Uptown.”

We’re no business moguls, but perhaps that was part of the problem!

But don’t worry; despite being unhappy with the fact that Cynthia Bailey made such a big deal out of the loan on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Peter says that he fully intends to pay her back.

“If that’s the last thing I do before I die, I’ll make sure that she gets her money back,” said Thomas.

As for how he feels about the rest of the Hotlanta Housewives, Thomas says that he’s tired of the stars of the Bravo reality show being so fake when they go on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live, telling the magazine that if he were on the show, he’d keep it real. Just how real?

“I can’t stand Phaedra [Parks'] ass. I think Kim [Zolciak] is crazy as f–k. NeNe [Leakes] has a big-ass mouth, okay? And Sheree [Whitfield's] not cute! She thinks she’s cute, but she’s not cute,” says Thomas.

“The only one I like is Kandi [Burruss], and she’s too soft. That’s why she got played with Kim. And that’s how I truly feel.”

And if we know the Housewives, we’re sure at least one of them will have something to say about that!

It appears that Peter has issues with strong independent women who are making their own mark. Each of the women that he slammed have their own careers and make their own money. Maybe he should have taken some $$$$ advice from Phaedra. A good education can take you wonders in life.

@Valencia- “issues with strong independent women”. wow, you really are drinking the Bravo’s Atlanta flavored Kool-Aid. There are only a couple of truly strong independent women on the show. Kandi has her own career and made her own money. Phaedra has also made her own mark. Lastly, Cynthia did well as a model, but she doesn’t have much business sense (or she’d know an investment is a risk v. reward type deal- sometimes you win, sometimes you lose). The rest of the women don’t qualify… Nene’s fortune originated from Greg, not from her own genius. Sheree… ooh, she married, had kids with, and divorced an NFL star… way to “make money”. And Kim, can anyone take her serious as a person, let alone a parent, singer, or independent woman? Come on, don’t stretch that line too far or you’ll offend the truly strong and independent women. i think Peter was on point with his statements.

Peter is just a brutally honest, typical Jamaican man. He calls it how he sees it. Nothing wrong with that. Frankly, his perception of the women on the show is spot on. Nene- her loudness stems from deep rooted insecurity and self-doubt. Sheree- Didn’t really start finding out who she is until she couldn’t ride her NFL hubby’s coattails anymore…and she’s got a ways to go. The over-confidence is really a front, she’s really unsure of who she is or what her talents are. Kim- “High-class hoe” who uses what she’s got to get what she wants. Poor example to her daughters. One minute “Big Poppa”, and within few weeks switches over to some unknown football player and ends up pregnant? Ughh. Kandi- Well-known in Atlanta to be sneaky, but skilled at putting on her “kool-aid” smile and acting like she’s so unaware. She knows exactly what she’s doing. One unpaid hit, “Tardy for the Party” with Kim as the guinea pig bought her cross-over potential to a broader audience. I mean, how many white people remember “Xcape”? Do you really think she’d take Kim on tour with her if there wasn’t any business strategy behind it? Cynthia probably wishes she had accepted Russell Simmons’ or Jayson Williams’ proposals, perhaps she would have owned “BabyPhat” instead of Kimora.

Kim WAS a nurse, she has no career as one. Kim is basically a HO. Screws for money. Nene started working because she had to, she has no accomplishments of her. Just some dude says above, Valencia must be drinking the kool aid. Each person on the show has thier own issues, some being delusional (Sheree)but it shows what people will do for money or 15 minutes of fame.
