The Fashion Show Ultimate Collection judge Isaac Mizrahi felt they made the right decisions throughout the competition in terms of eliminations and hoped they would make the right one again in the finale. Do you think the judges got it right? If you wondered how the judges came to choose Jeffrey as the winner of The Fashion Show Ultimate Collection, continue on to read what they had to say in the extended judges’ table video on Bravo.
In regards to Calvin, Isaac said, “When Calvin first started doing clothes for us, I thought he was a fraud. I really did. It was like, ‘Oh, that. [rolls his eyes].’ But he really committed to a certain thing and he did it again and again, until I think he got it very right tonight. I really do. Especially with that beautiful red dress and those first two looks I thought were very masterful in a certain way.” He added that of all the collections it was the most minimal and sculptural.
Harper’s Bazaar Editor-in-Chief and guest judge Glenda Bailey agreed that Calvin’s clothes seemed very modern and wearable, but she wondered if it was enough. She thought his pantsuit looked cheap and fellow guest judge Mary J. Blige called it horrible.
Moving on to Dominique, Iman called her ambitious, but she overreached. Isaac believed her exuberance and daring kept her in the running and Glenda Bailey said, “She made everyone look like they had enormous hips.” Mary J. Blige felt Dominique’s was the worst collection of the night. Isaac added, “She looked so wonderful. We wish she would do clothes that she wears all the time.”
It was clear Dominique was out of the running by the time they got around to discussing Jeffrey. Mary J. Blige said of his collection, “He made me trust him. He cared about his customer, from the first white piece, which was very courageous, everything else that came after that was perfect. He cared about us. He cared about our waistlines, how far up or down they went. He cared about how unforgiving even white or grey can be on the hips. He just really amazed me.”
Issac was impressed by all three collections but thought Calvin came the furthest. Iman chimed in saying Calvin had become a master at technique. Isaac believed Dominique’s spirit would carry her on, but that Jeffrey really brought it week after week. Iman declared Jeffrey was the obvious winner because he was so clear on where he was going.
Of picking Jeffrey as the winner, Glenda said, “He has a future. I think it’s irresponsible of us to present designers we know in our hearts would not be successful in today’s marketplace.” She added that J. Mendel said if Jeffrey would like to come in for an interview he would consider him for a position. That made the decision final for her.
Iman wrapped it up saying, “It has been a long road throughout the whole season, but I think tonight we know who made the Ultimate Collection.” And that person was Jeffrey. Do you agree with the judges? Should Jeffrey have won the Bravo reality show? Or do you think someone else deserved the honor?
