The Real Housewives of New York City: New Housewife Cindy Barshop Says Show Is Like Survivor

January 31, 2011 11:00 AM by Paula_Kosowski

Bravo’s new Real Housewives of New York City castmate Cindy Barshop is comparing the show to Survivor. Keep reading to see what she says the experience is like…

According to Us Magazine, “Real Housewives of New York City’s” newest “housewife” Cindy Barshop says the show is a real-life version of “Survivor.”

Cindy Barshop tells Women’s Wear Daily, “No one gave me a handbook on how to be a housewife or who to interact with or how to be with them…It was like being on ‘Survivor .’”

Us Magazine reports, the new “Real Housewife” was thrown in with seasoned cast members for the upcoming fourth season of the show.

Cindy, owner of Completely Bare salons and single mother of one-year-old twins, tells the magazine it took some time to get used to being on the show.

Cindy reveals, much like “Survivor” contestants,  she had to come up with a strategy for the show.

“I had to work at making myself relevant…showing my qualities and showing them right away,” Cindy tells Us Magazine. “This is not a place where you slowly learn about somebody or they slowly learn about you. And there is an etiquette.”

While the 46-year-old mom made sure to introduce herself the right way, she didn’t stray from conflict, holding her own when she needed to.

Cindy’s brother, Howie Barshop, tells Us Magazine about his sister’s strong personality: “She is very kind, but let me tell you, she is a very sharp lady. When she has to be aggressive [on the show], she has been.”

Howie says his sister got aggressive when she had to.

Looks like Cindy will fit right in with Bravo’s seasoned New York housewives.

“The Real Housewives of New York City” returns to Bravo Feb. 15 at 10/9c.

When will they announce the real reason that NY is being shown later this spring rather then now? Because New Jersey wives that were supposed to be seen this spring may not even be seen at all. So they throw in a Miami season to do pushbacks for what reason? If NY is going to be so good, then why wait? What reason would you drop Miami in the hat, when there wasn’t even word of this. Think about it, New Jersey is having issues, and bravo needs time to deal with it.Hummm.

I like Cindy. She is smart, has her own business and doesn’t need to depend on a “Bobby” for money or an ex-husband for fame. I respect Cindy, Ramona, Alex and Kelly for actually having a JOB or their own business.
It seems Jill and CountLESS luann clawed their way to the top courtesy of their husbands. Neither has done anything significant.
I would rather have my elbows on the table than a daughter who is acting out on youtube rolling a doobie, using the n-word and looking clearly stoned in photos all over the web. Can’t blame the daughter when her mother acts like a dog in heat. How classy is it at her old age to date and put a younger man before her children? Ramona and Bethany were right calling Classless luann out on being a snake, having affairs while married and giving her number out to random men. I can see why the Count dumped her. I do agree with luann on one issure, “Money can’t buy you class LUANN.”
